The National Bank of Dubai Museum is located within a landmark building designed by NORR International. It describes the importance of the pearling industry to the economy of the Gulf before the discovery of oil.
A sequence of galleries illustrates the hazards of traditional pearl diving, the process of pearl dealing, and the use of pearls as a barter currency. At the heart of the museum is a priceless display of natural Gulf pearls and jewelry donated by the Bank's founder, Sultan Ali Al-Owais.
