This two acre Kensington site was purchased by the Iranian Government in the mid-1970's, but has remained a vacant lot for almost twenty years.
Our practice was appointed by the Iranian Embassy in London to work with Tehran-based architects Serat Misagh. Our role was to review the initial design for a 12,500 sq.m. cultural centre and propose revisions to satisfy planning objections. This involved a reduction in the development yield, reinstatement of historic facades facing Queensgate, and improvements for the main cultural centre elevation. Following public representations the final design received planning approval in 2000.
